Shavana's Cat Poem

Hello this is my poem about a fat cat I hope you like it

On the carpet there was a cat
You have to look twice
For a big fat cat
Might be sleeping somewhere!
On the top of the mat
Can you find a black nose?
Against the cool bench
Can you see two round eyes?
Whiskers that sharp
oh! my fat cat.

Jessica's Cross Country Writing

Last Thursday, Point England school  had cross country  outside on the court. It was a beautiful nice day, it felt like I was baking in the hot sun. All about cross country was the fun run that’s why we did it.

Looking around me was the only fast people that I know, I was shaking nervously to death because I always think that I will come last but when I was standing waiting in line till its my turn. I saw My friend it was her turn to run its almost like a marathon. Everyone was sprinting and gasping for air running in the squishy mud their feet was like a stick covered with Dark Chocolate I said to myself “eeeeuuuuu that’s just disgusting’’.

Behind me was the ten year old boys it was so gross because I felt something under my bottom it was a sticky bubble gum stuck under my bum. I looked at the back of me there were two boys laughing at me. I knew it was them so I undid it, because someone might look at my bottom and then mock me.

Then my friend said to me “is it  our turn?" I Replied "Yes it is" so we lined up and walked normally to the beginning. Our Principal said we just have to wait until all the other people clears the track for you guys okay when it was time he said the magic word get mark get set go! we ran fast as we can and there was buzz of excitement cheering for our house colours.

When I looked down I saw mud oozed through my toes it was just not cool. When I was running and running I was almost the last one in the ten year old girls but I said to myself “I can do this Jessica’’ and so I ran and ran until I met My Bff and said to me “I don’t want to do this ever again I’m just going to stay home next year’’ when I passed Miss walter and Miss King I raced till the end. I was so exhausted so this lady said here you go. "Thank you", I said.

Should this have happened?

The Kiwifruit group have read a book called 'Should this have happened?' written by Jill Eggleton and illustrated by Richard Hoit.  They have been learning about Debates and how to present their ideas in a form of an argument.

Their statement was 'Georgie Porgie should not have kissed the girls'. Here are there teams.

Here are some of their ideas and photos of them.

Taunese: Georgie Porgie should have kissed the girls because he had no friends and he wanted people to like him. Georgie Porgie should have kissed the girls because he was practicing kissing girls for his wedding day too and he wanted it to be perfect. I think Georgie Porgie should have kissed the girls because he was lonely and had nothing else to do.

Rowana: First of all Georgie Porgie should not have kissed the girls because he already had a wife. I think that the girls died because georgie porgie was so smelly and his smelliness was so bad. He wanted to make the queen of france jealous so he kissed the girls and the girls cried because they felt sorry for the queen.

Secret Agents by Sohel

Here is Sohel's narrative about a seal and penguins. It's a great read!

Once upon a time there lived a penguin named Mike. Mike and his friends were secret agents that rescued animals all over the world. During their fight training session Mike got hurt. He went to  his room to do some meditation. Suddenly he was teleported to the surface of the water. He looked around and realised he was among lots of  killer whales.  Mike was extremely scared and started swimming for his life he screamed as loud as he could, his friends rushed to his room but he was not there. Being secret agents they were able to track him down using his tracking watch.

Francis, Ferby, S.J Bomb and their captain Artix ran to get their gadgets they  put on there rocket boots, sword belt and their mini ring gun. They used their rocket boots and blasted themselves to where Mike was, they started to shoot at the killer whales. Suddenly the killer whales started to  shoot back. The whales  shot Francis he was injured so  Ferby and S.J bomb  took him back  to the lab in town.  Meanwhile  Artix stayed behind to  shoot the killer whales and rescue Mike. “Lets go Mike” said Artix, “Let’s head to safety where the others are”. They made their way back to the lab. When they got back  they found out that there master was a killer whale disguised as a penguin. Artix shouted “ATTACK”, Mike, Ferby and S.J Bomb pulled out their swords from their belts and started chopping up their master.

to be continued........

Do you remember when Francis got shot, well the bullet he was shot with had a potion in it............Read on to learn more.
One day Francis was sharpening his sword belt when suddenly he grew a tail.  He rushed to his friends but they had gone shopping. Francis started to panic he didn’t want to turn into a killer whale because his friends would hunt him down. Unfortunately there was no way he could stop it. Francis became an evil killer whale. He planned to blow  up the city with a nuclear bomb. When Mike and the others found out that Francis was a killer whale they were very sad and wanted to find a cure to change him back. They did some research and found out that the only cure for  him was to find three magic gems. they set off in search of the magic gems.

While they were searching   they saw  a magic gem on the back of a  giant polar bear. Artix said “we need to work as a team to get that gem”. “Mike, Ferby and S.J Bomb you circle around the polar bear while I distract him”. “Ok” they all said at once. Artix started teasing the bear S.J bomb and mike cut his legs then artix and ferby got the gem off his back when he fell over. They were happy they got there first gem.

They continued on their journey and ended up in a forest. There they saw   a giant snake they used their sword belts and chopped his head off so the snake wouldn’t eat them. When the snakes head fell off  they found there second gem in it’s neck. The agents knew that to get the third gem they would have  to kill the king killer whale. The only way to kill the king killer whale is to use a Narwhals horn and stab the king in his heart. Then  the gem would be there's. Lucky Artix had one in his bag. They snuck up from behind the king and Artix stabbed him in the heart, The king screamed and Ferby shouted “there’s the gem in his mouth, I’ll get it!” He swam quickly over to the king and ripped the gem from his mouth. The king killer whale was dead.

They pushed the special teleport button on their sword belts and teleported back to the lab. Mike got all of the gems and combined them together, and made a magical bullet. The nuclear bomb was getting closer and  closer to the city. “Hurry” shouted Mike, “we need to save the city” he handed the gun with the magical bullet in it to  Artix  to shoot the bomb. Artix fired the gun and it hit the nuclear bomb, they watched as the bomb turned around with extreme speed and headed toward Francis. They watched in amazement as the bullet that was stuck in the bomb exploded, smoke was everywhere, suddenly they saw Francis flying through the air  he was turning back into a penguin. His friends were really happy to have him back. The magical bullet combined with the nuclear bomb had killed all the killer whales in the city. The city was safe once again.

What's a Food Chain? by Katareina

In class we have talking a lot about food chains and what they are. It was quite tricky for some of us to understand and explain what a food chain is, but after lots of discussion and working in small groups, here is what Katareina and friends came up with.

A food chain is an order of what organisms eat. It depends on their ecosystem. This means where they live. A food chain always starts with a producer an example of a producer is plankton. Then its consumer an example of what eats plankton is krill. And is forth. A producer is a living thing that makes its own food by sun and soil. A consumer is a living thing that eats other living things.

Antarctica by Ashley

Here is Ashley's writing about Antarctica. You can read and listen to it.

If you go to Antarctica you might figure some weird things but interesting facts about Antarctica, is twice as large as Australia. Antarctica is freezing cold and windy to  there is 70% freshwater there and 90% of Antarctica is covered in ice.

There is lots of wildlife like hump back whales, penguins, seals and orcas.Antarctica is the coldest, driest and windiest place on earth.
There is lots of ice bergs there so if you go there you better watch out for ice bergs.

Sohel's Eel Narrative

Here is Sohel's narrative that he wrote about an Eel. Once upon a time there was an Eel named Jack who lived in the beautiful healthy Omaru River. Jack loved to swim and play with his family in the River. One day he noticed the crystal clear water of the river was starting to look dirty. Jack saw lots of people throwing rubbish into the river it was dirty and smelly it was uninhabitable for Jack and his family to live. Jack needed to find a way to clean up the river so he would be able to live in the crystal clear water. So Jack followed the creek looking for a way to clean Omaru River. Suddenly Jack realised that he was swimming into the sea and Jack hated saltwater, it made his eyes burn. He was so hungry that he could not take it anymore. He turned around to go back but it was too late and sadly, Jack died. After a while a man picked up Jack’s family. Luckily, his family were saved. He took them to his house and put them in a big clean pond, where they could live forever. In the meantime Jack turned into a ghost and followed his family to the mans house and they lived happily ever after.
