Room 9 wrote down some goals that they would like to focus on for the year. We are still learning to identify how we will achieve them.
Here is Sateki sharing with you his writing.
The Rainbows are learning to: add detail to the front of word groups to writing interesting sentences.
Here is Stevenson's interesting sentence using the word group "buildings collapsed".
A tragic event has happened in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand. Our thoughts are prayers are with the people in Christchurch. Due to the massive destruction of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that hit the heart of the city sometime during lunchtime yesterday.
The Rainbows group in Room 9 were able to add detail to word groups. Listen as Enyahlee shares with you her writing from today.

Over the last few days, Room 9 have been reading a story called Evil Fred by Kylie Begg and Jacob Leaf. Apart from Evil Fred, the main characters are the Rancid Family. Have you heard of them? You can listen to a podcast that previous Pt England students have made by clicking here.
The children in Room 9 have been learning to write simple sentences that describe and explain what the Rancid family are like. Here are some examples:
The Rancid family are mean and silly. I don't like the Rancid family.
The Rancids are a mean, big and nasty family. The dad puts bad stuff in the supermarket.
The Rancid family was a nasty and cheeky. The Rancid famiy are rude. I think Mr and Mrs Rancid are the meanest people in the land.

Every Friday Pt England School has whole school assembly. As part of assembly, we have Lunch Box Heroes. In order for you to be a Lunch Box Hero, you have to have three things in your lunchbox.
1. Bread: A sandwich or roll
2. One piece of fruit: apples or bananas or oranges etc
3. One healthy snack: Yoghurt or crackers or cheese etc
When children's lunchboxes are checked, their names go into a draw and during school assembly if your name is drawn out, you line up and get to pick a healthy treat from the big Hero box. There are only 10 winners.
This week these are the children who were lunchbox heroes: Zane, Michael, Uli, Cyrus, Maroroa, Antonia, Brooklyn, Ariana, Sarai, Mahana, Alexis and Taimana.
Today three of Room 9 Zane, Ariana and Michael were very lucky to have their names drawn. Well done! Who will be a Lunchbox Hero next week?
