Point England Prizegiving 2015
Every year our children share an item for prize giving to celebrate their achievements this year. Also because our families and community love seeing their children on the stage. The children have been practicing very hard and have had heaps of fun along the way. Check out the Year 6 item.

Statistics
WALT: study information (data), collect it, summarise and present it
Our maths class have been learning about Statistics. Statistics is when you gather information to find things out. First I had to create a google form. Then I got my friends to fill it out. Using spreadsheet, I created my graph.
In my class, six people liked picnic. Only one person liked Flake. Three people liked Snickers and dairy milk.
Next time, I would like to find out about how many children in my class like different movies.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2015: I'm the Man MTV by Aloe Blacc
Here is our movie for the annual Manaiakalani Film Festival. We based our movie around the song "I'm the Man" by Aloe Blacc. We felt the lyrics were uplifting and reminded us that it's ok to do well and be proud of it. We are all special and unique in some way and to keep trying even when things get hard. Please leave us a comment once you've viewed our movie.

Weetbix, Cream and Apples!!
Last week to help motivate our students with a riveting writing experience, we got them to eat half a piece of weetbix with some cream on it and then eat a whole apple. You can view here the amount of fun it was to watch but not so much to eat. Here are some highlights of the fun we had and some gems that the children have written:
Some people were cheating by using their hands and eating it - Daniella
My favorite part was when I got revenge on Charles. I put whip cream on his face and I put the apple over his face. - Josh
But after my turn my buddy Sheena was the one I had to feed when I put the Weetbix up to her face she nearly bit my finger cause she gobbled up the Weetbix snack - Dekorah
Well I hope we don’t do it again because that was the worst thing I ever tasted in my life - Kosini

The Royal New Zealand Navy Band
Our school were very fortunate to have the Royal New Zealand Navy Band perform for us today. They played lots of familiar tunes that the children loved and enjoyed dancing too.
We all had lots of favourite parts especially when Sponge Bob Squarepants came out and when Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker were fighting. It has inspired lots of children who love music into playing different instruments.
We're all very grateful and would like to thank them all for coming.
If you would like to know more about the Navy, you can click here. Here are some highlights from today.

New Zealand National Shakeout Day
Today is Shakeout Day. In support of this, our school took part at 9.15am. We heard a deafening destructive noise on our loudspeaker and we all had to find somewhere to "Drop, Cover and Hold".
Here are some photos. Check out more information on this site here.

Run, Jump, Throw
This term we've been so fortunate to have coaches come and teach us skills for Athletics. Coach Vaughn taught us the correct starting positions when getting ready to race. Some of the tips he gave us was to face forward when racing, start on your stronger leg and to pump your arms fast.
We had another coach teach us the correct technique of how to perform high jump. And coach Eric taught us how to correctly throw a shot put and a discus. It was so much fun! Thank you to everyone involved and thank you Miss Va'afusuaga for organising this for us.
