Introducing Room 13

Here is a short clip of all the students in Room 13. Watch and listen as we share a bit about ourselves and at the end, you're in for a real treat - Pt England Styles.

Swimming

Our children have been very fortunate to have swimming lessons at the Glen Innes Aquatic Centre. They are divided into three groups according to their abilities in the water and children learn swimming skills. Each group has a qualified and very friendly instructor that teaches them for half an hour per session. There are eight sessions in total. Here is a short clip of what they've been doing so far.

Riverside has begun!

Riverside is an afterschool club for children Y4 - 8. It's held every Wednesday from 3.30-5pm. All the children have heaps of fun playing games and learning different life skills. There's even an end of year camp. Here are some photos from some of the students in Room 13. Can you see who they are?

Netbooks in Class

We've had our first two days using Netbooks and the children have done so well. We've learned how to create a doc and file it in the right folder. The children know that if they don't, then the teacher can't see it. And some of us got to use MathsWhizz for the first time. Today we had Mr Barks come in and show us the beginning stages of making a presentation in Google. Here are some photos of us with our Netbooks.

Chrome Book Roll Out

We had our first roll out of Chrome Books in our class on Friday 8th February. It was an amazing experience. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Burt, Mrs Tele'a, all the Manaiakalani people involved and to the Tamaki Transformation Project and everyone else that helped make it happend. We can't wait to use them for our learning in class on Monday. Here are some photos!

Welcome to Year 5 in Room 13

This year is going to be an exciting one. We hope you've all had a lovely holiday and look forward to all the wonderful events ahead. Term One will be a busy one so keep watching this space and check out what our Year 5 children will be up to.

Angelo at Athletics

Here is Angelo's writing about our 2012 athletics.

Do you know what we did on Thursday? We had school athletics my age group was the eight year old boys. We had athletics on the school field and because its part of the schools curriculum . It was on a sunny day.


Our first event was the soft ball throw. Lomio-lee threw the ball the farest. then we did discus Shaun threw the furtherest. then we went to the high jump I made it to the finals but I lost.

Angelo and Yvonne's Narrative Writing

Here is Angelo and Yvonne's narrative writing that they worked on collaboratively using Evernote on an iPad.

Once upon a time there lived a snow man named Seini he lived in the a hole.on the side of the snowy mountain. Seini kept on looking out side of her window for a shooting star but it never came. One night seini was cleaning but flys kept on bothering her so she told them to go away with a sock on top of the flys head. They all went away because the sock was stinky. And seini,s feet was to smelly.

She looked out the window and looked back and saw the shooting star. She wished to go to go all the way to Mission Bay.She closed eyes and opened them and all of a big fat pants he was at Mission Bay.Is this a dream he said in his mind or is it not. As she sat down she thought she was going fall but she did,nt.


She saw a red x and a shovel leaning on a rock. She was wondering what it was for. She was thinking if she should dig. She chosed to dig. She diged the hole and found a paper that said you have won one $ millon dollars . She screamed . And that night they celebraited the rest of the day looking at the beautiful sky and the lovely birds . And shiny water and waves.But as she screamed she noticed that she had already mounted. But as she mounted she said said noooooo.

Athletics by Vinolia and Lomio

Lomio and Vinolia worked collaboratively to construct a paragraph about our school athletics. You can view photos from this day here.

Hey did you know each school does Athletics? Yesterday Point England school did our own Athletics day. We had school Athletics on a hot summer day. We had it so we can have fun. We were doing sports games like shot put, high jump, sprint racers,and discus.It is part of the school curriculum. It was a very fun day. We were on the school field.

My favourite event was sprint racing and obstacle course.We had to skip , jump , do the hula hoop, go under the table and punch the bags four time and do the same thing back and past it to your friend.
