Football Festival 2014

On Monday 15th December, our school had a Football Festival. The Juniors had their games from 9-11am, the Year 5/6's at 11.30am-1pm and the Year 3/4s from 2pm onwards.

2014 Manaiakalani Film Festival: Rock, Sword, Firecracker

Here is our entry for the Manaiakalani Film Festival 2014. Our movie came about an idea of where the game Rock, Paper and Scissors came from. We found a script from this free plays site called  Freedrama.net. We adapted it slightly to ensure that our movie was within the time limit.
The students had lots of fun learning their lines, dressing up in costumes and acting it out. Thank you Freedrama.net and all those who helped with our movie.

The Life Education Caravan by Charles

Guess what? Last week class 9 walked on to the court to get to the life Education caravan so we can learn how to keep healthy and grow. There

is an instructor named Lynn. She taught us five things about our body and the food we have to eat. I am going to tell you five foods what helps us grow.

Now one of the things to make us grow is drinking five or six cups of water everyday. Another thing to make us grow even more is to go to have

lots of rest and go to sleep for 8 hours a day at least. We have to eat lots of vegetables and we have to do lots of exercise.

Some other things that we did in the life education caravan is we got to see a lady called Tam. She is not a real lady she is plastic dummy and some of her skin is peeled off so we can see some of her body parts. she showed her liver, lungs, and the small intestines,and then large intestines. When tam turned around I heard some people saying Ewwwwww!!! and giggling but it was a little bit funny for me.

I liked the time that we went to the life education caravan It was cool.

My favourite part is when I saw Tam I hope we go there again so we can learn about being healthy.   

Length

This week we have been learning about Length. To help us learn about measuring long distances, we used google maps. We had to find out how many kilometres there are from Auckland to Wellington. The answer is 650 km.

In 1912 April 10th the Titanic boat was sailing too fast and they spotted the iceberg too late.The Titanic boat hit into the iceberg and the iceberg made a hole under the ship the water filled up the Titanic and sadly in 2 hours and 40 minutes the titanic ship sunk    and 1,517 people died and 700 people lived and the captain of the Titanic boat was Edward smith.

Fiafia History

Here is a short clip of some footage from Fiafia a very long time ago. Some of this recording was from as far back as 2008. Our Fiafia is a celebration of many cultures. It's going to be held outside our on school field.

Swimming by Adam

Have you ever been taught by a swimming instructor before? class 9 walk to the glennes aquatics center for swimming lesson. We learn rocket arm streamline arms small kick freestyle chin on chest all kinds of swimming. I’m in group 2 my instructor is Laura. We need to have swimming lessons so nobody could drown. New Zealand is surrounded by a big oceans of water. There is the south ocean the indian ocean the north ocean all kinds of oceans.        

My instructor laura has been teaching me great stuff my favourite swimming style was gilding. When it came to my turn I was abit worried but when I put one hand on the board and  started kicking my legs in the water like  scissors I was doing it! But I almost sunk at the end of the pretend island.

Next year I'm looking forward to new skills on the board or new skills with my hand’s. I have had the greatest instructor for my group. Next year I’m going to improve by getting in group three.
